What is Caveo?

Caveo is a Swiss financial planning firm. Caveo creates personalized financial plans for individuals that bring together assets, liquidity, retirement planning, taxes, risks, and personal goals into a comprehensive overview. For business owners, their own company is explicitly included in this overview.

The financial plan leads to prioritized decisions and a digital action plan. Upon request, Caveo also assists with implementation and updates the plan as life changes.

Our consulting services are fee-based: Clients pay for the planning, not through product commissions. Our guiding principle is: First, the plan. Then, the right solution.

What Caveo Is Not

  • No bank and no custodian bank. Assets are held by Swiss custodian banks.
  • Not a robo-advisor. Technology supports the analysis, but a human creates and is responsible for the plan.
  • No insurance sales and no product salespeople. Products follow the plan—not the other way around.
  • This does not constitute tax advice in the sense of a fiduciary mandate, nor does it constitute legal advice. Caveo works with fiduciaries, tax advisors, and attorneys as needed.

How does Caveo work?

  1. Understand
  2. Planning
  3. Decide
  4. Implement
  5. Accompany

The process begins with a free, no-obligation initial video consultation. Afterward, Caveo digitally collects the data, analyzes the situation using its own planning software, and creates a financial plan.

A key feature of Caveo: The financial planner who provides advice also creates the plan themselves. There is no separation between the client advisor and an anonymous planning center. The plan doesn’t end as a PDF; instead, it becomes a digital action plan with deadlines and reminders.

How much does Caveo cost?

OfferPrice
Initial ConsultationFree and with no obligation
Financial planStarting at CHF 2,500, one-time payment
Financial Plan with CompaniesStarting at CHF 5,500, one-time payment
Ongoing SupportUpon request, depending on the scope
Caveo WealthTotal costs of approximately 1.2% per year, including asset management, custodian bank fees, product costs, and Caveo support (0.50%). Statutory fees are excluded.

The cost of a financial plan is based on its scope, not on the client’s net worth. At Caveo Wealth, clients pay no more than they would if they were investing directly with an asset management partner.

Who is Caveo for?

Caveo is aimed at individuals with tax residency in Switzerland whose financial situation is substantial enough that poor decisions can be costly, and complex enough that a comprehensive plan provides real added value.

  • Entrepreneurs and owners of Swiss small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), for whom the business is often their greatest asset.
  • Executives and specialists, typically with an income of at least around CHF 120,000.
  • People who are 5 to 10 years away from retirement and who are deciding on their pension or lump-sum payment, pension contributions, and payment schedule.
  • People facing major decisions: buying a home, selling a business, inheriting an estate, or becoming self-employed.

Who is Caveo not intended for?

  • For individuals who do not have a tax domicile in Switzerland.
  • For short-term trading, speculation, or individual stock selection.
  • For anyone who just wants to buy a specific product without considering their overall situation.
  • Just to fill out your tax return. A tax preparation firm is the right place to go for that.

What sets Caveo apart?

  • The big picture, not just the individual parts: Banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and trustees each manage a specific part. Caveo is responsible for coordinating the whole process.
  • Fees Instead of Commissions: No closing commissions in the planning process, no product lock-in.
  • One person, one plan: The person who provides advice also draws up the plan.
  • Proprietary technology: digital data collection, automated preventive analysis, digital action plan.
  • Business Management: The business, pension fund, and personal assets are planned together.
  • Implementation included: Measures are scheduled, tracked, and implemented as needed.

How does Caveo Wealth invest its assets?

Caveo does not manage any assets itself. Asset management is handled by Swiss partners, currently Azemos, Everon, and ZIAG. Assets are held in custody by Swiss custodian banks.

Partners are assessed for their suitability for financial planning through an ongoing market screening (“Caveo-certified”). The investment strategy is based on the financial plan, particularly the investment horizon, liquidity needs, and risk tolerance.

What issues are particularly important to entrepreneurs?

  • Salary or Dividends: The combination of a reasonable salary and dividends is often ideal. A higher salary increases retirement savings and the potential for making additional pension contributions, while dividends reduce social security contributions.
  • Pension Funds and 1e Plans: Employer contributions are tax-deductible expenses. Pension plans must comply with the principles of collectivity, equal treatment, systematic planning, and adequacy (Art. 1 through 1f BVV 2).
  • Hidden Reserves and Succession: Hidden reserves represent a tax deferral, not a tax exemption. If you plan 5 to 10 years in advance of the business transfer, you can release them in a controlled manner.
  • Indirect partial liquidation: A capital gain realized by an individual from the sale of a business may be subject to retroactive taxation if the buyer withdraws assets not necessary for business operations (Art. 20a DBG).
  • A Company as a Savings Account: Excess liquidity within the company increases wealth tax, the purchase price, and succession risk.

What are the key pension and tax rules? (As of 2026)

RuleValue or Basis
BVG Coordination DeductionCHF 26'460
Upper Limit for the BVGCHF 90'720
Maximum Insurable WageCHF 907,200 (Art. 79c BVG)
1e Plan Possiblefor portions of wages exceeding CHF 136,080 (Art. 1e BVV 2)
BVG Minimum Interest Rate1.25 %
Pillar 3a, with PKMax. CHF 7,258 per year; retroactive payments for coverage gaps possible starting in 2025
Lock-up Period Following the Purchase of PK SharesNo withdrawal of capital for 3 years (Art. 79b, para. 3, BVG)
Employer Contribution Reserveup to five times the annual employer contribution
Capital Gains TaxThe planned increase (Relief Package 27) was eliminated by Parliament.

Withdrawals from the 2nd pillar and the 3a pillar are taxed separately from other income and receive preferential tax treatment. The tax is progressive, so spreading these withdrawals over several tax periods can reduce the tax burden. The figures vary by canton and are not a substitute for an individual calculation.

Fee-based financial advice or bank-based financial advice: What's the difference?

At banks and insurance companies, financial advice is often free of charge but is financed through products, commissions, or retrocessions. With fee-based financial planning, the client pays directly for the planning services. This makes the costs transparent and ensures that recommendations are independent of specific products. A fee of a few thousand francs is small in comparison to decisions regarding pension fund purchases, capital withdrawals, or the sale of a company, which often involve six-figure sums.

When is it worth creating a financial plan?

It’s worth creating a financial plan before making far-reaching decisions that are difficult to correct later on: pension plan contributions, choosing between a pension or a lump-sum payment, selling a business, buying real estate, inheritance, or early retirement. Many financial arrangements require advance planning. For example, a pension fund buy-in must take place three years before a lump-sum withdrawal, and the realization of hidden reserves prior to a business sale should be planned over several years.
